Working with Jason and the Valix team has been one of the most impactful partnerships for our organization. As a small team, we simply do not have the capacity to pursue every funding opportunity, strategic initiative, and systems-level change on our own. Valix has created that capacity for us. We trust them to represent our organization, our mission, and our values with the same level of care and professionalism that we would ourselves. Their team consistently delivers high-quality work, allowing us to stay focused on mission-critical priorities and the people we serve.

Jason knows how to navigate City departments and pairs that expertise with a rare understanding of program operations, drawn from his own background in direct service. That combination allows him to partner with us on program design, budgets, implementation, and funding strategy—not just grant narratives.

Their support of our CalAIM strategy is a great example. They have helped guide us through certification, contracting opportunities, and compliance requirements that are critical to expanding services and strengthening long-term sustainability. This is important work that our team would not have had the capacity to lead on our own.

As new public and private funding opportunities emerge, Jason has become a trusted thought partner, helping us evaluate opportunities, identify strategic pathways for growth, and position the organization for long-term success. As the Valix team has grown, we have expanded our partnership, and every project has been managed with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, creativity, and collaboration. I often recommend Jason and the Valix team to other Executive Directors because the nonprofit landscape continues to grow more complex, and leaders need trusted partners who can add capacity, bring specialized expertise, and think strategically alongside them. Jason and his team do all of that while remaining deeply mission-focused, making them feel less like consultants and more like an extension of our own team.

Valix has changed how we manage our government contracts. When it comes to City monitoring, we now walk into audits prepared. Jason and his team built systems to track our program metrics and ensured our policies and procedures align with what the City requires. They also put a survey plan in place to gather the qualitative and quantitative data our city contracts depend on. We now have a strong system for reporting and documentation, and it has completely transformed our annual monitoring. Our relationship with the City is stronger for it.

What I appreciate most about Valix is the steadiness. We are applying for new grants every
month, and I no longer worry about whether the pipeline is moving, because it always is. At the same time, Jason and his team help us maintain strong relationships with our existing funders, both public and private. Holding that balance between pursuing new opportunities and tending to the ones we have is difficult, and Valix does it well. I feel secure knowing the work is consistent and the relationships are cared for.

Working with Jason and the Valix Collective team has changed how we approach fundraising. With Jason’s help, we’ve added new city contracts, such as MOHCD and HRC, to our grant portfolio, along with private foundations, such as the California Wellness Foundation. They really showed up for us during our transition out of fiscal sponsorship, when we took the big step of becoming our own 501(c)(3), and they made a complicated process feel less daunting. Beyond the grant work, they supported event planning and fundraising for one of our intimate dinner events and led the corporate sponsorship strategy for Birth Justice Prom, which is now an annual event for us. Jason’s team is helpful and responsive, and he’s always available for fast-turnaround requests. It feels like having a partner who’s in it with us, not an outside person we hand things off to.

Jason and the Valix Collective team gets SisterWeb. They took the time to understand our programs and the communities we serve, and they know how to turn what we say and do into something funders respond to. When I talk about the Doula Apprentice Program, or Blossoming Births, or our community doula work, they take my words and build proposals from them, so the story stays ours even on the page. They also help us take a vision and turn it into program design, proposals, and budgets that can actually bring it to life. They’ve helped us secure support for the programs I care most about, and they do it without ever making our story sound like someone else’s. It feels like having a partner who’s in it with us, not a vendor we hand things off to.

city
hope SF

Working with Valix Collective has changed how City Hope approaches funding. When we started, we had never held a government contract. Jason and his team helped us land our first City contract through the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, and that opened a door we did not know how to open on our own. Beyond that first win, Valix has implemented a real grant-making strategy, one that balances the individual donors who have always sustained us with the public and private funders we needed to grow. What I appreciate most is that they keep things moving. There is always another submission in progress, another deadline met, another opportunity we would have missed on our own. They understand our mission, and they respect the neighbors we serve. I am grateful for the partnership.
